Why is it free?
Because it can be. Layerz is bootstrapped, with no investors waiting on growth targets and no sales team to feed. You bring your own AI, so a solo user costs us very little. Layerz earns its living when an organisation collaborates, and on done-for-you work.
What counts as an editor?
Someone who changes the model: values, formulas, structure. People who view, comment, or receive share links are unlimited and free, on every plan.
I'm a fractional CFO with ten clients. Really free?
Really free, as long as you're the only editor. That's deliberate: you're exactly who Layerz is built for.
Are there limits on the free plan?
No cap on models, history or exports. The MCP connector and the API are rate-limited to protect the service, not to bill you, and nothing is priced on usage.
Is export always free?
Yes. Any plan, any time: clean .xlsx with live formulas, JSON, raw model view. Your work is a file and it stays yours.
Do I pay for my AI separately?
Yes, and that's the point. You bring your own assistant: your subscription, your context, your control. Layerz doesn't resell AI, so nothing is metered on top, and 49 € per editor pays for one thing: the model layer that holds your work together.
